I've been hanging out in the Wikimedia scene since 2009, and I kicked things off under the name “White Master King,” but I later shortened it to “White Master.” When I picked that name, I really didn’t mean for it to come off in any negative or racist way.
I got involved with Wikimedia Venezuela back in 2011, and it’s been an awesome ride with all sorts of roles! Here’s the lowdown on my journey:
- From 2011 to 2013, I was a Student Member of the General Assembly.
- Since 2013, I’ve been a General Assembly Member.
- I was the Infrastructure Manager from 2013 to 2017.
- From November 2021 to May 2023, I had the honor of serving as Vice-President, thanks to the General Assembly's support. During this exciting time, I got the opportunity to represent our chapter at Iberoconf 2023 in Bogota, Colombia!
Since 2013, I’ve also been an admin and a bureaucrat for Spanish Wikivoyage, thanks to a thoughtful community vote. Fun fact: I’m currently the only sysop on that project!
During my time with the Ombuds Commission, I’ve had some great experiences, like being a Commissioner from 2019 to 2021, an Advisor to the Commission in 2021-2022, and then going back to being a Commissioner for 2022-2023. I was planning to run for the 2024-2025 term, but I totally spaced on it! Hoping to jump back in for the 2025-2026 term!
Since we kicked off the Wikimedia Small Projects user group in 2020, I’ve enjoyed taking on various roles with some amazing people. Here’s a quick snapshot of what I’ve been up to:
- I had the privilege of serving as the General Coordinator from 2020 to 2024! During that time, I got to represent our user group at the last Wikimedia Summit held in Berlin, Germany, which was an amazing experience.
- A Permanent Member of the Board of Trustees since 2020.
- Part of the Technical Team since 2020, focusing on keeping our infrastructure in shape.
- For a bit, from August 2021 to January 2022, I was the Project Manager for the research project about non-developed Wikimedia projects.
- I joined the Organizing Committee for Wikimania Venezuela 2022 in August 2022, and that was a blast!
- From September 2022 to January 2023, I was proud to be the Project Manager for the WikiSendero Andes 2022.
- In February 2023, I helped out with the Organizing Committee for DataUp Mucuchies 2023.
- From June to September 2024, I'll be taking on the role of Project Manager for the WikiSendero Andes once more!
I’ve also been happily volunteering as an advisory member for the Sister Projects Task Force since July 2023.
In 2024, I was excited to kick off the Latin America and Caribbean Hub to support our amazing volunteer communities as they blaze new trails in the spirit of learning and collaboration. However, I've noticed that not all regional affiliates share this vision and prefer to focus on preservation instead. In the meantime, I'm happily stepping into the role of Overseer.
When it comes to editing, I mainly focus on correcting occasional errors, doing maintenance, and translating content, though I’ve been a bit more laid back about it lately. I’ve learned a ton along the way and appreciate every lesson.
Looking back, I see that my impulsive nature and excitement sometimes led to bumps in the road and left people a bit unhappy. Luckily, as I’ve grown, I’ve matured, and I decided to change my name to something more serious. The new name is inspired by one of the “twelve great” knights of the Round Table known for his gallantry and purity. In the “Fate” series, he’s often seen as the ultimate knight—a young fellow destined to lead the next generation of the Round Table. He’s celebrated as a true "saint who alone achieved the Holy Grail, only to return it to the heavens". Known as Galahad of Revelations, he’s recognized as both the Knight of Heaven and the Knight of the Grail. Ahem, plus, I’m a fan of the anime “Code Geass”, where "Galahad" it’s also the name of the Knightmare Frame piloted by the Knight of One, The Strongest Knight of the Empire, Bismarck Waldstein.
